I just LOVE the mind of a child.  Reilly is getting to the age where she's really figuring the world out more and more and asking/saying the cutest things!!   Here are a few things she's said in the last week:

1.  at dinner one night, I was telling Shawn how Reilly and I were throwing a ball back and forth and she was cathing it like 95% of the time…I was blown away!  Shawn looked at Reilly and said, "Buddy, you da MAN!!!"  reilly looked right back at him and said, "No daddy, YOU da man, I DA GIRL!!!"  Love it:)

2.  While coming home from the tree farm the other day, Ava (one of her bestest friends) wasn't feeling good so Reilly asked if we could pray for her.  We did, and as soon as we said "amen", she said, "mommy, is Ava better now?"  wow wouldn't it be nice if prayers were answered that quickly!!

3.  I was trying to explain to Reilly about buying a gift to donate to the Christmas Beureau at school next week for a little boy/girl who has NO toys.  We talked about how she has LOTS of toys to play with but that some children don't have any toys and we were going to go buy one for a special little boy or girl. 

      Reilly:  Oh, like Asher, mommy?  (he's a little boy from her class)

      Me:  No honey, Asher has lots of toys just like you.  We're going to buy a toy for someone who doesn't have any toys.

      Reilly:  Oh, like Memama(my grandmother)??!!

      Me:  Well, I guess Memama doesn't have any toys, you're right.  But she does have a few things, right?

      Reilly:  Oh, I forgot.  But she doesn't have a PLAYROOM mommy!!!

      Me:  yes, honey, you're right.  

4.  Tonight, while I was putting Reilly to sleep, we were reading in her Bible about the birth of baby Jesus.  After we finished, she said, "Mommy, I want Braxton to sleep on the hay with the animals like baby Jesus did."

What a treat we had today!!!  Mom and Dad wanted to take Reilly to see Disney on Ice.  When she asked me, Shawn and I were like, "uh, yeah, you can take her, but we want to go TOO!!!!"  So, we did!!  All of us went and we had a blast!  We had awesome seats too…like 4 rows off the ice!  The show was amazing.  I was so blown away at the skill level of the skaters, but then to think that they do it all with the enormous costumes on is just crazy!  Reilly LOVED it and was entertained for the entire 2 hours!  Thank you DeeDee and Poppi for such a special, FUN treat!

Of course, Daddy splurged in order to spoil his little girl….

Oh, how I LOVE a Christmas tree farm!!!!!  today, we embarked on our annual tree hunt adventure, with our friends the Dreschers in tow:)  We had such fun hiking the hills looking for the PERFECT tree!!!  My 2nd favorite part of the day….dinner at Cracker Barrell on the way home:)

i'm having a REALLY hard time keeping up with all the "posting" that is required of me!!!  Family blog, work blog, work website, facebook, and on and on!!!  Anyway, here is a ton of pics of what's been going on:

we went to greensboro a couple weekends ago to celebrate thanksgiving with mom and dad and brandon and angel.  of course, reilly and mom had their special time on the horses….

for thanksgiving, we went to ocean isle to be with my grandparents and extended family.  my sweet grandfather, who has been suffering from alzheimers, will be going into a nursing home next week, so I am super glad that we got to spend some time there before things change….

we took a little trip out onto the beach for some fun pics….

I cannot believe that Thanksgiving is over and Christmas is just a few weeks away!!!!  Where in the world does time GO???!!!

reilly and I had a super special day today!  We went to her very first "production" of any sorts to see Sesame Street LIVE with several of her friends and their mommies!  It was a blast.  She was so super excited and kept asking when we were finally going.  Then she just danced and jumped up and down throughout the whole show!!  Here's a short video…..the video clips at the end are kinda hard to see but I wanted to capture her excitement and dancing!  Enjoy!

Life is so busy!!  Why is that?!!  Here is a QUICK update on the goings on in our house..

Braxton is FINALLY starting to cut some teeth!  7 1/2 months and NO teeth as of yet!  The past two days he's had quite a runny nose and had a hard time sleeping the first night.  Even with teeth coming in (I seriously think I can see THREE coming in at the same time!) he's still so happy!  I just don't get him!  LOVE it though:)  Reilly has had a boost in her confidence, apparently, b/c her favorite thing right now is, "no mommy, I can do it."  She seriously must think she is 12 years old, the way she acts these days!!  Shawn and I have had to do a little "attitude adjusting" recently to help bring her back into reality:)  I'm super excited for tomorrow….I'm taking her along with several of her friends and their mommies to see Sesame Street live.  Funny thing, she doesn't even know what Sesame Street is!!!  But, she'll be SO blown away since this is the FIRST "production" type thing she's ever seen!!  Can't wait.

We have had so much fun celebrating Halloween this year!!  We started off last night with an impromtu cookie decorating party with a few of Reilly's friends.  They had a blast!  I made some sugar cookies and buttercream frosting and had all kinds of sprinkles and goodies for them to decorate with.  Evan, Sophie and Chloe came over to join the fun…

Since our neighborhood is so fabulous, OF COURSE they do a pizza party to kick off the trick-or-treating extravaganza!!!  So, at 4:30, we packed up and headed over the other cul-de-sac and joined 100+ other folks for some pizza and Halloween pictures!  There are SOOOOO many kids in this neighborhood it's crazy.  At one point, we tried to get a group shot of most of them, but it ended up being pretty funny!  Reilly ended up trick-or-treating with her buddies Evan, Sophie and Chloe while the dads walked with them.  The girls all stayed back at one house with all of our candy bowls handing out candy to the kiddies!  When they were done, Reilly and her friends all just ran in circles on the driveway for about 45 minutes.  Reilly kept coming up to me saying, "mommy, this is so much FUN!"  so cute.

Wow, the blog has been neglected…yet again!!!  Well, I have a good excuse!  Reilly came down with the swine flu/h1n1 flu over 2 weeks ago and she very nicely passed it on to Braxton as well.  We were all quite a mess around here for about 2 weeks.  Both kids were quite pitiful and required 100 times more attention than usual!  Needless to say, I was exhausted!!  We literally stayed inside for about 10 days…didn't do anything!  Whoa, that will make you really miss the common errand-running-outings!!!  Both are much better now, although Reilly still has a cough and Braxton still a runny nose.  I even got sick in the middle of it all, but luckily, not nearly as bad. 

Also, right in the middle of it all, I took a 2day trip to Chicago, by myself!, leaving both kids at home!!  It was way harder than I thougth it would be to leave them home, especially since they were both sick.  You know, when you're sick, you just want your mommy!!  Anyway, I had an amazing opportunity to attend a workshop by an internationally known photographer in Chicago and I couldn't pass it up.  So, off I went!!  Luckily, Shawn's mom and sister came in town to offer some help:) 

The day after I got back, Reilly's preschool class had a field trip to Patterson Farms to check out the pumpkin patch!!  She had so much fun, but was defintiely still feeling a bit out of it, having missed almost 2 weeks of school. 

Braxton is officially 7 months old and STILL doesn't have any teeth!!!  I honestly thought he was going to have teeth back at 15 weeks when he began teething like a fool!!  But, nothing yet!!  He is scooting on his tummy and moving all around, but not up on his hands and knees yet….which is just FINE with me!!    He continues to put EVERYTHING in his mouth and chew away (and DROOL away!).  The whole eating thing has not been too big with him!  For some reason he just doesn't really care about eating solids!!  It's not that he doesn't like whatever I offer, he literally just doesn't want to open his mouth–no interest at all!!  for the past 2 days, he's done a bit better, and will actually eat about 2.5 Tbsp of cereal mixed with some breastmilk and fruit and about 2 Tbsp of a vegetable (squash is a big hit all of the sudden!).  He's still just a skinny thing…but I guess that's the way he's made!

Today we took the kiddos to get our pumpkin.  I have been wanting to visit the Bradford Store (up on 73); it's the real cool produce/homemade baked goods, jams, preserves/plant/organic store.  I figured they probably also had pumpkins and sure enough, they did.  But they aren't your typical pumpkin and they weren't in your typical "pumpkin patch".  They were placed on the front porch of this old building that sits on the farm and they were short, squatty looking things!!  Oh well, it made for good pictures….that's all it's really about, right?!!
